Plant Control Room Operator-Shift Lead

Overview
Responsible for safe plan equipment operation and production.

Core Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot and make adjustments to the in-feed mixes and direct the Material Handler according to type of fiber and moistures of the fiber.
  • Communicate with all employees and manage Biopower’s HMI systems to ensure maximum production.
  • Constantly reviews the operation of the plant to monitor production and quality, anticipating and solving problems in a timely manner, and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Report any abnormal or irregular conditions that develop during the progress of the work and take corrective measures within the scope of operating instructions.
  • Review notes with cross shift Operator at beginning and end of each shift communicating fiber mixes, overviews of equipment efficiencies, expected delays or upset conditions.
  • Manage and communicate fiber needs, coordinating with the Loader Operator to ensure Pelleters have enough fiber to continue production.
  • Communicate housekeeping needs to Utility that support all activities keeping the pellet mill clean and mitigating unacceptable levels of dust accumulation.
  • Conduct testing and complete necessary reports on moisture content.
  • Review product quality and makes system adjustments as needs. Maintain data logs.
  • Communicate directly with QA laboratory to ensure highest quality product that meets or exceeds the customer expectations. understand and interprets QA results and takes appropriate action when required.
  • Ensure the highest level of safety standard, ensuring compliance with all applicable government regulations and corporate policies.
  • Participates in continuous improvement and quality control initiatives.
  • Reports safety incidents and or infractions.

Minimum Requirements (Experience, Education, Qualifications, Skills, Abilities):

  • HMI experience an asset
  • Bark burner and Dryer system experience an asset.
  • Able to operate equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Adaptable to changes in work schedules or work tasks.
  • Must be a team player with excellent interpersonal, analytical, problem solving skills.
  • Experience in heavy industry operations an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written skills.
  • Good mechanical aptitude.
