We are excited to announce that the registration for the *NEW* Municipal Equipment Operator course opens on Monday June 24th, 2024!
In collaboration with Fanshawe Corporate Training Solutions, AORS is pleased to offer the Municipal Equipment Operator Course. This course is a 10-week micro-certification course through Fanshaw College and AORS, where students will learn the basics of municipal public works operations and receive hands-on training on equipment relating to municipal public works operations including a tractor loader backhoe, motor grader, sidewalk plow, roadside mower and forklift. Students will also receive Book7 (Traffic Control) Training, Chainsaw Safety Training, WHMIS, Fall Protection Training, Propane Handling Certification and other online asynchronous professional development courses. Most significantly, students will obtain their DZ license. Included in the program is a Mentorship Program, where students will be paired up with a AORS Director or senior member to guide the student in starting their career in municipal public works, assist them in building a network in the municipal public works, assist them in building a network in the municipal industry and assistance in finding a municipal public works position after the student successfully completes the course.
There is no cost to the student for the course. The course will be offered hybrid, with some courses available online, and a requirement to attend the London/Middlesex area for hands-on, in-person training. Costs for travel and accommodations for the students required to travel to the London/Middlesex area will be covered by the program. Successful students will be placed on a waitlist for the program.
