SUMMARY:Municipal Equipment Operator Course
DESCRIPTION:We are excited to announce that the registration for the *NEW* Municipal Equipment Operator course opens on Monday June 24th\, 2024! \nIn collaboration with Fanshawe Corporate Training Solutions\, AORS is pleased to offer the Municipal Equipment Operator Course. This course is a 10-week micro-certification course through Fanshaw College and AORS\, where students will learn the basics of municipal public works operations and receive hands-on training on equipment relating to municipal public works operations including a tractor loader backhoe\, motor grader\, sidewalk plow\, roadside mower and forklift. Students will also receive Book7 (Traffic Control) Training\, Chainsaw Safety Training\, WHMIS\, Fall Protection Training\, Propane Handling Certification and other online asynchronous professional development courses. Most significantly\, students will obtain their DZ license. Included in the program is a Mentorship Program\, where students will be paired up with a AORS Director or senior member to guide the student in starting their career in municipal public works\, assist them in building a network in the municipal public works\, assist them in building a network in the municipal industry and assistance in finding a municipal public works position after the student successfully completes the course. \nThere is no cost to the student for the course. The course will be offered hybrid\, with some courses available online\, and a requirement to attend the London/Middlesex area for hands-on\, in-person training. Costs for travel and accommodations for the students required to travel to the London/Middlesex area will be covered by the program. DESCRIPTION:Program Announcement \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAssiniboine Community College is proud to announce a partnership with Conestoga College (Ontario) to deliver a tuition-free welding program at its North Hill Campus in Brandon commencing in August 2020.\nThe program\, funded through the Government of Canada Skilled Trades Awareness Readiness (STAR) program prepares students for in-demand careers while providing a head start for those wishing to work towards a Red Seal in the apprenticeship certification process. \nSelection into the eight-month program will focus on engaging key groups including women\, Indigenous peoples\, newcomers to Canada\, persons with disabilities and those currently underemployed. \nCapacity for the program is fifteen students. Tuition\, textbooks\, and personal protective equipment are all covered at no cost to students in the program. \nThe program includes an eight-week paid work placement offering students pathways into the labour market upon graduation. \nInterested candidates must attend a mandatory free program information session as part of their admissions process into the program. \nPlease visit www.assiniboine.net/welding-tuitionfree for further details\, including a program information sheet (printable)\, admissions process and important information. \nIf you have students or clients with questions\, please refer them to the above website and resources and encourage them to attend a scheduled program information session.
