Job Posting: Community Services Librarian

Rate of Pay: $29.44 – $33.68
Position Summary:
The Atikokan Public Library is seeking qualified individuals for the position of Community Services Librarian. Reporting to the CEO of the Library this position is primarily responsible for Atikokan Public Library’s child and young position is primarily responsible for Atikokan Public Library’s child and young adult collection, providing programs and services to the community, and being accountable for circulation and cataloguing duties. The Community Services Librarian is Acting Head of the Library in the absence of the CEO/Librarian.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the development and maintenance of the book collection, and other library materials for the Children’s Department and Young Adult Section Includes: classification, weeding, inventory.
- Provides readers’ advisory services to library users
- Planning, implementing and supervising programs and services. Includes publicity and public relations activities for community events.
- Supervises assistants in the Children’s Department and Young Adult section.
- Assists in the creation of library policies.
- Attends to following clerical and circulation duties:
- Reports and statistics from library software
- Physical processing and repair of library materials
- Borrower registration, holds, overdue materials, shelving
- Coordination with local and regional partners to implement program
- Grant writing and funding applications.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Library technician’s diploma or sub-professional degree, preferably with extensive library training and/or experience.
- Interested in developing library skills and knowledge through formal education.
