Rainy River Mine
Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River Mine is an open pit, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.

The Rainy River Mine, located adjacent to the Ontario/Minnesota border is 65 Kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario. The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. If you enjoy outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, winter sports and lake country then this is an area you will love to live and work in.

Applicants who reside in Northwestern Ontario and have experience working in a cross-cultural environment, coupled with knowledge of the unique challenges and opportunities presented to those living in the Northwest Ontario, are assets. About the Role
Schedule: 7/7 or 14/14 – 12 hour days

Position Reports To: Construction Supervisor

Position Overview
This is a permanent position within the construction team. This position is eligible for camp accommodations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Positions working a 7/7 or 14/14 rotation rotating between day and nights shift
  • The Equipment Operator will be responsible for operating heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner
  • Heavy construction equipment may include front-end loaders, dozers, excavators and other pieces of equipment
  • He or she must always perform circle checks of equipment and clean, maintain and secure all equipment as directed by legislation, policies and procedures


  • Driver’s license is required – must have minimum of class G2 license
  • 1 year operating machinery considered an asset but not necessary
  • Heavy Equipment Operator Training is desirable
  • Ontario Common Core Training is an asset

  • Ability to understand and follow Safety Operating Practices
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Aptitude to demonstrate safety procedures is essential in this role
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and signage
  • Ability to think and act decisively
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time
  • Ability to work at heights
