Reporting to the Road Superintendent, the On Call Seasonal Labourer is responsible for:
- Carrying out all assigned routine/non-routine winter highway maintenance operations and activities undertaken from designated patrol centers when emergencies or events are occurring.
- Performing activities during the winter season that include but not limited to: responding to accident scenes for cleanup, traffic control, debris removal, tree removal, setting up temp stands, setting up of road closures, providing support to the operational team and WRF in events and as needed in an on call basis
- Other duties as assigned.
The successful candidate must have/be:
- Valid Class G Ontario License
- Ability and willingness to work independently or as a part of a team; willing to respond and work nights days or weekends
- Helpful, friendly and courteous with the public, regulatory agencies and peers
- Punctual, reliable, and will to respond to incidents in a required timeframe
- Willing to train in OTM Book 7 Traffic Control
- Physically able to meet all requirements and perform satisfactorily all highway maintenance an emergency assignments in a manner that promotes cost effective operations, staff co-operation and working in a safe and environmentally friendly manner at all times.
