Rainy River Mine
Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River Mine is an open pit, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.

The Rainy River Mine, located adjacent to the Ontario/Minnesota border is 65 Kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated halfway between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario. The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. Applicants who reside in Northwestern Ontario and have experience working in a cross-cultural environment, coupled with knowledge of the unique challenges and opportunities presented to those living in the northwest Ontario, are assets. About the Role
Position: IT Indigenous Trainee (one year contract)
Schedule: 5/2/4/3
Position Reports To: IT Lead

Role Summary
A junior level position in the New Gold IT team, the role will encompass all aspects of IT service and delivery.

Key Responsibilities
Tasks will include, but not be limited to:

  • Tier 1 and Tier 2 desktop support for users onsite and remote
  • IT service provisioning (i.e., add/delete users, change of access, password resets, mailbox quota management)
  • End user incident management
  • Server management
  • Networking troubleshooting
  • Basic Server management
  • Work with other departments and vendors on IT related projects
  • Running cabling, installing new IT equipment
  • Other relevant duties as assigned
  • Any additional tasks as requested by your supervisor

Qualifications

  • University or College degree/diploma in Computer Science/Information Technology or related experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft product suite, including but not limited to: Active Directory (and/or LDAP), Email, SharePoint, Windows 10, Office 365
  • Sound knowledge of TCP/IP and basic networking principles
  • Racking/cabling of servers and network equipment experience an asset
  • Ability to problem solve and handle multiple tasks efficiently and effectively
