Here is what you will be doing:
Reporting to the Director, Capacity, Access and Flow, the Lead is responsible for supporting the development, implementation and evaluation of health system capacity, access and flow strategies and plan for the East Region.

This position will work closely with the VP and Director, Capacity Access and Flow and with inter-departmental teams and clinical and administrative leaders within the East Region to improve the function and operations of the broader health system.

Health system planning and improvement

  • Coordinate and conduct analysis of local health-care system based on provincial and local data, community input and other sources for the purpose of identifying gaps, improvement opportunities and establishing planning priorities
  • Keep abreast of leading practices in access and flow locally and in other jurisdictions
  • Support the identification and implementation of regional access and flow improvement initiatives

System capacity planning

  • Monitor pertinent access and flow performance metrics across region and within specialized programs, identifying trends, pinch points, gaps and areas of opportunity
  • Support the development of short and longer term capacity plans for services that support and enable patient flow across the system

Develop and lead stakeholder relationships

  • Provide advice and support, as required, to East Region planning staff, health service providers, and other partners on initiatives and opportunities that will advance strategic health system goals
  • Lead discussions in department and stakeholder meetings, working groups, committees, advisory groups, council and/or other relevant meetings which may have an impact on the project/corporate initiatives
  • Initiate and develop effective working relationships with external stakeholders to keep up to date on current/emerging developments, trends, quality improvement initiatives related to access & flow
  • Work closely and collaborates with internal CAF, clinical, strategy, planning and performance

Project management and objectives delivery

  • Ensure appropriate mechanisms are in place for the optimal delivery of initiatives, including best practices guidelines and tools for the effective management and execution of projects
  • Develop, manage and execute on work plans, including tracking milestones, project risks, and project status
  • Work collaboratively with project support resources from both within and outside of the organization to align planning processes
  • Utilize strong knowledge of project implementation characteristics to lead large scale projects and manage communications with relevant stakeholders
  • Manage all aspects of the project life-cycle ensuring delivery on-time

Issues and stakeholder management

  • Conduct proactive issues management by anticipating and mitigating issues, facilitating discussions among partners/stakeholders
  • Use excellent problem recognition and problem abilities to handle complex problems and inform management of potential issues and associated solutions
  • Proactively identify partnership opportunities and explore partnership opportunities presented by leadership and upon outreach from partners to advance OH East initiativves/rojects

Here is what you will need to be successful:
Education and Experience

  • University degree in Social Sciences, Health Care, Business Administration or related field; a Master’s degree is an asset (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • 5+ ears experience in a health care environment required
  • Experience with data analysis
  • Excellent computer skills required (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Proven ability to build, enhance and maintain strategic relationships with clinicians, local and provincial governments, health service providers and other key stakeholders to work in a variety of team situations

Knowledge and skills

  • Strong understanding of health care system and continuum of care including clinical processes with ability to use clinical data for improvement
  •  Solid understanding of regional system access and flow and how it intersect with other stakeholders in the system
  • Experience managing diverse groups of external stakeholders
  • Good knowledge of and proven ability to apply multiple planning and analysis methodologies and make effective recommendations Understanding of the current and changing dynamics of the Ontario health-care system and issues
  • Capacity to think strategically and maintain a broad systems view, with the ability to translate broad goals into detailed strategic and operational plans
  • Strong ability to gather, critically analyze and synthesize data and information from multiple source to inform health planning and to guide evidence based decision making
  • Ability to effectively analyze complex problems, interpret operational/clinical needs and develop integrated and creative solutions
  • Ability to utilize a high level of initiative and self-direction
  • Strong consulting, negotiating, influencing and facilitation skills
  • Ability to work well independently and collaboratively as a team player with a variety of staff/stakeholders
  • Exceptional project management skills and experience leading multiple cross-functional projects concurrently, with a proven ability to move complex projects, interpret operational/clinical needs and develop integrated and creative solutions
  • Ability to utilize a high level of initiative and self-direction
  • Strong consulting, negotiating, influencing and facilitation skills
  • Ability to work well independently and collaboratively as a team player with a variety of staff/stakeholders
  • Exceptional project management skills and experience leading multiple cross-functional projects concurrently, with a proven ability to move complex projects from start to finish through planning, development, implementation
  • Superior communication, interpersonal and facilitation skills to work with a variety of stakeholders and senior leaders across the health continuum
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to thrive in an environment of ambiguity and pressure.
