POSITION SUMMARY

Title: HSE Officer – Field-Mining Exploration
Location: Kashabowie, NW Ontario
Reports To: Safety Manager, Moss Gold Project
Rotation: Camp-based rotation

JOB SUMMARY

We are hiring a third HSE team member to maintain daily field presence across expanding operations, participate in safety protocols’ development & implementation, deliver training and inductions, triage safety observations, and support the build-out of a proactive safety culture.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Inspections & Hazard Management:

  • Conduct daily inspections across drill rigs, core shack, camp, laydown, fuel storage, and shared roads using checklists and EHS management software.
  • Perform behaviour-based safety observations; verify corrective action close-out from inspections, incidents, and audits.

Training & Induction

  • Deliver site-specific HSE inductions for all new arrivals (employees, contractors, visitors) and facilitate toolbox talks, pre-shift briefings, and standard modules (WHMIS, manual handling, forestry-road driving, fit-for-duty).
  • Maintain the training matrix — update records, flag expiring certifications, support scheduling.

Contractor HSE Support

  • Walk drill rig sites alongside fellow Safety Officer — verify JHAs, PPE, guarding, housekeeping, all regulations compliance. Support contractor onboarding walkdowns. Attend weekly muti-contractor coordination meetings.
  • Monitor all contractor safety performance and ensure alignment with company standards.

Emergency Preparedness, Incident Support & Data

  • Maintain first aid stations, AED, emergency/spill kits. Prepare and participate in drills and after-action reviews. Support incident investigations (scene documentation, witness statements, evidence).
  • Manage HSE data. Compile inputs for HSE reports and maintain various records.
  • Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses, ensuring timely reporting and corrective actions.
  • Liaise with provincial regulators and ensure adherence to exploration-specific safety legislation.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required:

  • 3 years HSE experience in mining, construction, oil & gas, or heavy industry.
  • Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety or related  field.
  • Working knowledge of Ontario OHSA. Familiarity with O.Reg 854 is an asset.
  • Hands-on inspection experience — you have walked work areas, identified hazards, and documented findings.
  • Ability to deliver training to small groups (toolbox talks, inductions, safety briefings).
  • Standard First Aid/CPR/AED current. Valid Ontario G-Class license, Comfortable on gravel/forestry roads year-round.
  • Willing and able to work camp-based rotation at site.
